Reuters seeks deputy bureau chief in Washington

Reuters is seeking an outstanding journalist to serve as deputy bureau chief in Washington.

The experienced manager who fills this role will be a full partner in managing Reuters’ largest bureau in the Americas, with more than 60 staff members and an ambitious coverage agenda ranging from breaking news to deeply reported enterprise. The deputy’s responsibilities include oversight of the daily Washington file, which requires a working knowledge of U.S. general and political news, energy, commodities, finance and regulation. The deputy bureau chief plays a key role in personnel management and performance evaluation.

Qualifications

The job calls for a high-energy talent with strong vision and leadership skills and a winning personality, able to think creatively about ways to bring the best out of our team work and ramp up our presence in Washington. Strong writing skills and multimedia experience are required.At least 10 years experience in journalism. Strong track record of managing large teams and running big stories. Excellent people skills and the ability to coach and mentor staff.
