The International Business Times is seeking dynamic breaking-news reporters who can keep us ahead in this fast-moving digital era to join our growing news team.

This is a contract position that reports directly to the Continuous News Desk (CND) editor, with the opportunity for growth into a staff position. The job is based in New York, N.Y.

Key Responsibilities

Our reporters will be responsible for the development, production, and publication of aggregated stories for a global audience for all topics on the IBTimes website. The reporter should be competent in breaking news in real time ahead of the competition as well as possess a proven ability to bring web traffic through a strong understanding of trendy topics and buzzy keywords. Successful candidates will show a propensity to for writing several aggregated articles on a broad array of subjects throughout the day with a minute-by-minute deadline.

We are looking for writers to cover the following beats:

· General and Trending News (Weekday shift)

· General and Trending News (Night/Weekend shift)

· Trending News (Weekend/Weekday shift)

We require reporters who bring passion and zeal to not only succeed, but to define journalism into the digital era.

Desired Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will have had some exposure to editorial production, and have some understanding of web publishing. Interest and experience in digital news is a plus.

· A bachelor’s degree in English, communications, media, marketing, or other related field

· At least 1 years of reporting experience required

· Proven ability to break important news

· Understanding of trending topics across all news verticals

· Ability to write multiple stories throughout the day under tight deadlines

· High standards of editorial integrity

· Highly organized, accurate, and detail-oriented with speed and accuracy

· Openness to a dynamic schedule

· Exposure to Photoshop and image editing

· Knowledge of basic HTML

· Some understanding of web publishing and SEO is a plus
