The Desert Sun and DesertSun.com in Palm Springs, Calif., is searching for an energy reporter who is experienced with data and document reporting, is knowledgeable about the science of solar, wind and geothermal energy and is equally adept at long-form storytelling and daily audience engagement. The beat includes coverage of air and ground pollution and other environmental implications.

The Desert Sun’s coverage area is home to the largest federal solar zone in the nation, thousands of windmills and about a dozen geothermal plants.

The right candidate will work on a variety of short- and long-term projects, drop everything for breaking news and engage with audiences daily across mobile and social platforms. Apply if you have a file of great clips and a flair for making complex stories readable. Spanish language ability is a plus.

A bachelor’s degree is required.

Position requires valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and access to reliable transportation.

Please send your resume, cover letter and clips to Senior Editor James Meier at James.Meier@desertsun.com.
