Albany Business Review seeks digital editor

The Albany Business Review in upstate New York is needs a dynamic digital producer to take ownership of its online news report. In our newsroom, the digital producer performs a role similar to a news editor and must flourish in a breaking news environment.

The job requires solid news judgment, reporting, strong headline writing skills and familiarity with SEO and site metrics. The digital producer must balance the highest standards for content with ambitious traffic and engagement objectives.

In addition to working with staff- and user-generated content, the Digital Producer is expected to curate, report and write posts as well as produce interactive features, galleries and video.

In Albany, the digital producer directs the Morning Edition and Afternoon Edition news emails. That includes aggregating news accounts from other sources, writing news posts and editing staff-produced copy.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
2-3 years experience in online news operation
Strong headline writing and copy-editing skills
Familiarity with AP Style
SEO experience
Video production experience a plus
Demonstrated use of databases to build interactive elements and features
Data entry for content management systems
Html skills
Excel and/or spreadsheet tools and management
