Wendie Feinberg, the former managing editor of “Nightly Business Report” who was fired earlier this year, has a new job.

Feinberg begins work Tuesday as an executive speechwriter for the Federal Reserve Bank in Atlanta.

“It’s a wonderful chance to use my writing skills, and my 16 years of business journalism background,” said Feinberg in an e-mail to Talking Biz News. “And it’ll be fun to be in a place that’s making the news, rather than covering it.”

Feinberg had been with “Nightly Business Report” since 1995.  A graduate of the University of Florida and Boston University, she has been in broadcasting since 1983.

In 2006, Feinberg was the winner of the National Business News Emmy Award for continuing coverage of a news story for her work on “China As An Emerging Power.” In addition, she is the winner of three Local Emmy Awards in Georgia, Florida and Boston for Best Newscast, Best Public Affairs Programming and Best Investigative Reporting. Feinberg was also the recipient of a Radio & Television News Directors Association Award for Best News Series or Documentary.

She lost her job in July as part of an overhaul of the public television show under new ownership.
