WSJ looking for reporter to cover media
by Chris Roush
Martin Peers, the media and marketing bureau chief at The Wall Street Journal, sent out the following Wednesday afternoon:
The Wall Street Journal’s Media & Marketing Group is looking for a reporter to write about the news business.
This person will be responsible for coverage of newspapers, magazines, financial information providers and the fast-growing array of online news sites.
This is a rapidly changing sector. Newspapers and magazines are looking to reinvent themselves in a digital world, just as a myriad of news web sites and blogs are trying to establish themselves.
The successful candidate will be an aggressive news hound, able to conceptualize smart features and possess a graceful writing style. Three years experience in daily news and a background in business or financial reporting is preferred.
If interested, please contact Martin Peers at martin.peers@wsj.com.

[...] Asking Gregory to obey the laws he wishes to enforce on others is not an assault on press freedom. It is a cogent critique of an overzealous regulatory regime–the sort of critique the Journal itself makes on a variety of other issues, from banking to emissions. What makes guns different may be the impression that gun control advocates are “bitter clingers,” perhaps at some sort of cultural remove from the Journal’s editorial offices. In a similar vein, the Journal once mocked Tea Party activists as “Hobbits.” If so, the Journal should check its elitism. It is not press freedom but the rule of law, as well as the Second Amendment, that are at stake. Image source: Talkingbiznews.com [...]
