Reuters managing editor Paul Ingrassia sent out the following staff departure announcement on Monday:

Dear Colleagues

I am writing to inform you that effective immediately Michael Stott will be leaving the company. I will be taking over as EMEA Regional Editor on an interim basis, also effective immediately, while continuing my global role as Managing Editor.

I will be relying heavily on the talented team Michael has assembled over the past two years in EMEA. In particular, I’ll work very closely with our two EMEA Deputy Regional Editors, Janet McBride and Matthew Tostevin, to continue to build momentum during this interim period.

I would like to thank Michael, who joined Reuters in 1986 and has had a long and rich career at Reuters over much of the globe. It has included stints directing global top news and the domestic news services as well as running bureaus in Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States and Turkey. Most recently, as EMEA Regional Editor, Michael has built an impressive and award-winning team to cover the region. We all wish him well for the future.

Best regards,

Paul
