Albany TV station biz editor set to retire
Albany Times-Union columnist Marv Cermak reports Wednesday that Jack Aernecke, business editor of the local CBS TV station, plans to retire in June.
Cermak wrote, “Word has it his managers aren’t sure they want him to leave.
“‘The station would be crazy to let him go because he has contacts all over the place,’ says legendary Ernie Tetrault, a retired anchorman at the same station.
“Aernecke, 62, has been the station’s business editor for many years. He’s also served as a general assignment and sports reporter and anchor. Aernecke is among the Capital Region’s longest-tenured news media members.
“Tetrault labels Aernecke as a very sincere and honest person. ‘Jack is a valuable commodity. Some chamber of commerce or business will grab him up real quick. He’s been doing a good job for a long time.’”
